The Fenty Poutsicle is a hydrating lip stain that applies glossily and leaves a soft tint for an effortless, low-maintenance look. What I like most about this product is its customizability. With an easy-to-use applicator, you can apply it to the center of your lips and blend gently toward the edges for a bright pop of color. Or you can use my method where you line your lips like you would with a lip liner and gently blend inwards with your finger. It leaves me with fuller looking lips and a lined effect that looks great alone or topped off with a balm or gloss.
The color of this lip stain can also be adjusted by the exposure time; The longer you leave it on your lips, the deeper and more pigmented the color will be. On days when I want a more natural redness, I leave it on for about a minute before wiping it off with a tissue. If I want a more intense pop of color, I leave it on while I apply the rest of my makeup, which usually takes about five minutes. I have found that unlike other lip paints, it is completely feather and spill proof and always stays where I apply it.
This product starts working within seconds, which is both a pro and a con for me. It’s amazing how little product you need, but applying it can be a bit tedious since you have to clean up any mistakes you make as quickly as possible. I’ve found that having cotton swabs on hand for instant touch-ups is the way to go.
As intended, this lip stain really lasts all day – I usually apply it at 8am and the color is still intact when I get home from the office in the evening. Unlike other lip products that can feel dry and uncomfortable, this lip stain is so light that I usually forget I have something on my lips until I see my reflection in the mirror. With its unique oil-in-water formula, it’s also incredibly hydrating and won’t settle into cracks or dryness. When I go to happy hour or dinner after work, I usually do another quick coat for a little more lift and finish with a gloss or balm.
Although this lip stain lasts all day, it is incredibly easy to remove with makeup remover. Since it cannot be removed with water, I would like to point out that you will need a facial cleanser or makeup remover to completely remove it. After my usual nightly care routine, the color is completely removed from my lips without the need for scrubbing. I love that even though it lasts all day, I can also remove the stain if needed.
